About Me
Jibril Mohamed is a public service professional with a passion for social justice advocacy around the world. Born in Somalia, Jibril attended the University of Nairobi, Kenya, where he graduated with a B.A. degree (Honors) in economics. Jibril is currently in his final year of his Master of Social Work and MA in Public Policy & Management from the John Glen School of Public Affairs at the Ohio State University. Since his arrival in the United States, he worked to improve the living conditions of Somali-Americans through education, scholarships, and advocacy. He worked as a translator, employment counselor, resource coordinator, cultural competence trainer, research assistant, health and safety instructor, radio presenter, writer, consultant, and community advocate. He placed hundreds of new Americans in jobs, facilitated creation of business opportunities, and placed many students in colleges and universities. Currently, Jibril is the executive director of SomaliCAN, a 501 c 3 community organization that works to enhance the health, safety, and productivity of new Americans through education, advocacy, and access to opportunity. He also provides consulting services to other community organizations about organizational planning, proposal development, community engagement, leadership skills, and capacity building. He provides cultural competence training to law enforcement agencies, healthcare professionals, lawyers, educators, and the general public. Jibril is a founding member of Generation Change, US State Secretary Hillary Clinton’s Muslim leadership initiative and President Obama’s Young African Leaders Forum. He is a board member of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, the Ohio Youth Violence Prevention Board, and the Franklin County Government Workgroups. He received many awards and recognitions for his work including the President’s Call to Service Award. |

About Me
Druelton Bagley, known as Dru is a resident of the West side community of Columbus. She is a four term member of the Greater Hilltop Area Commission (GHAC) and she chairs the GHAC Human Services & Education Committee. Dru is also the Co-Chair of the Westside Community Health Advisory Committee. She has collaborated on many community projects and continues to create partnerships with organizations interested in the health and well being of the residents. On May 18, 2009, Dru received from Columbus City Council a Resolution of Expression for her services to the Community. She also received the Community Service Award from the Columbus Section of the National Council of Negro Women. |
